What Kitchen Appliances Can You Live Without?

Looking to rent or buy your first home? If so, you might be wondering what things you will need in terms of furnishings and kitchen appliances. This article will concentrate on the kitchen as there are just so many different appliances and gadgets available for this room of the house. While there are certain appliances that most people cannot do without, there are those who buy a certain appliance or other item and then never use it more than once. To that end, below we list a few appliances that we believe you can live without.

Electric Kettle

Right off the bat, you might be wondering what we are talking about with this one, but hear us out. Did you know that the electric kettle is one of the most significant users of energy in your kitchen? We know it’s convenient and that it can boil water in a mere couple of minutes, but they are voracious users of electricity. Switching to an old-fashioned stove-top kettle can help to save you a lot of money. If you really feel that you cannot get rid of your electric kettle though, think about how you typically use it. By only putting the amount of water you actually need in the kettle means that it will boil faster and consequently use less power.

Bread Maker

Bread makers are a nice idea. Who doesn’t love the smell of fresh bread baking? But if you have an oven, you don’t need a bread maker too. Bread is actually extremely easy to bake in an oven. Moreover, you can buy packets of bread mix at your local grocery store that only require the addition of water or milk.

Mixer

If you don’t make cakes on a regular basis, then you can easily get by with a hand whisk or an electric hand mixer. A larger mixer is ideal for someone who bakes often, but if you have a small kitchen, you can do without this bulky appliance.

Pasta Maker

Again, a pasta maker sounds like something that might be useful, but these machines can often be more hassle than they’re worth. You might like the thought of making your own fresh pasta, but the amount of work involved will cost you much more in terms of time and money than it would to buy dry or fresh pasta from the local store. If you really wanted to make your own though, you could do it without a machine.

Electric Can Opener

Really? The idea might appear quirky and fun, but the only people who should be using this gadget are those with a physical condition that makes it difficult to use a manual one. Today, many cans of food come with ring pull tops, and those that don’t can be opened in seconds with a manual opener. In our opinion, electric can openers are one of the biggest non-essential kitchen appliances there are. Not only do they cost you quite a bit of money to buy, they also take up unnecessary space in the kitchen.

What You Do Need

While there are many kitchen appliances that you could easily live without, there are some that are considered essential. Think refrigerator, oven, and washer/dryer. The Deal Experts say that setting up your first home can be awfully expensive. However, by looking around for savings through online deal sites, you can reduce the amount you need to spend on the most important items for your home.

It would be nice to have every gadget under the sun in your home as it would make daily life a little bit easier. But there is no point in spending a small fortune on kitchen appliances that you will never use more than once or twice.
