frances palmer wrap up

I loved hanging out with Frances last week. We had a great time eating One Girl cookies and talking about her amazing work. Here are a few photos from the event!

stylishly green

A box just arrived in the shop full of these fabulous metallic tyvek shopping bags. They are meant to be re-useable shopping bags but I plan to tote one around as my regular bag! They are washable, recyclable and super durable. $20/each. A great find by Joanne!

Today is my first day back from my maternity leave. It’s great to be here! The shop looks wonderful. As always Joanne has worked her display magic and made everything look just beautiful. And we have so many great new things for fall/holiday. I will definitely be blogging about all the new items we have coming in. Here are a few photos of the little guy I spent the last 3 months with. Can’t wait to see all of you soon!

easy entertaining-squash soup

I’m getting to live out my Gourmet fantasies with this post! Here is my recipe for roasted butternut squash soup, a definite hit for Thanksgiving or anytime really. I’m serving it in Frances Palmer’s beautiful raised dots cereal bowl from her Pearl collection. Come by the shop and check out Frances’ amazing pieces, perfect for your holiday entertaining!
Ingredients
olive oil
small onion chopped
2 garlic cloves, halved
2 carrots sliced
2 medium butternut squash
chicken stock or water
salt & pepper
1/4 cup orange juice
Cut squash in half lengthwise. Drizzle with olive oil and roast, flesh side down, at 400 F. Sweat onion and carrot in olive oil in a heavy pot until soft (but not browned). When squash is cooked and cooled, peel off skins and add squash to pot. Add water or chicken stock (or a combo of both) to desired thickness. Heat for 5 minutes or so for all flavors to come together. Take off heat and add orange juice. Blend with a hand blender or in a food processor or blender. I like to serve topped with pumpkin seeds or I mix greek yogurt with chives and finish with a dollop of that!

happy halloween!
